De Bleeckere develops ‘referee shoe’
In collaboration with Frank De Bleeckere, Patrick developed the first ‘Referee Shoe’ ever. The philosophy is that a referee is not a footballer, but a runner who runs averaged 12 to 14km per game. He should have shoes that prevent injuries. With a classic footballshoe, especially the Achilles tendon is frequently affected and a traditional running shoe provides not enough grip. ’The Referee Shoe’, according to Patrick, is now called the solution and includes the most typical characteristics of running shoes, but on a fixed-grip football-sole and with enough shock absorption. The shoe is worth 129.90 euros, just past the development stage and is now in production. From July 2009, all referees from first to fourth grade will get a pair. They will also get a new outfit.
